Welcome
The Scheme was started on 4th November 1949, to provide pension and death benefits to employees of the National Union of Railwaymen (NUR). In 1990 the assets and liabilities of the NUR Employees' Superannuation Scheme (‘the Old Fund’) which closed to new members on 30th June 1946 were transferred into the Scheme. The National Union of Railwaymen merged with the National Union of Seamen (NUS) on 10 September 1990, to form the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers. With effect from 31st January 2008, the NUS Scheme was merged into the Scheme and the name of the combined Scheme became the National Union of Rail Maritime and Transport Workers Pension Scheme.
The Scheme is governed by a Trust Deed dated 13 March 2008. It is open to new joiners.
